History of Proudfoot Leather
Proudfoot Leather and Lambskin was started in 1975 by Colin and Carole Proudfoot. This was a new and exciting adventure, neither having any previous connection with this business. At the time Carole taught music and Colin worked as a psychologist. Both later moved on into the leather and sheepskin business full time.In those early days sheepskin was the main product. Proudfoot was the leading supplier of sheepskin in Scotland.
Moving to the handbags business
As weather changed – it really did – long before the term global warning was coined – long cold frosty winters turned to cool damp winters – trade moved away from sheepskin to lighter weight leather. While business was mainly in garments, accessories such as handbags made of Scottish deerskin were also sold as a prestigious classic product.
Launch of website and international expansion
Proudfoot’s knowledge of leather grew and developed, at a local and international level. Client base grew to include a prestigious spread of customers, media and business personalities, politicians and royalty.
